The Department of Art, Media, and Design at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2024 to teach AMD 420: Contemporary Artists. The course is a survey examining the multiple worlds of the contemporary art world. Current issues, ideas, and intuitions which contribute to the shaping of today’s art are analyzed through the individual and collaborative works of African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Chicanos, feminists, gays and lesbians, “the mainstream,” and other artists. Cross-influences, dialogue and debates of the last 40 years will be emphasized. Lectures and discussions will be supplemented with field trips to museum exhibitions, public art sites, private collections, and artists’ studios.

The Executive Director administers, directs, and coordinates the activities of the USU in accordance with the policies, goals and objectives of the USU BOD, the California State University, Northridge, and the Trustees of the California State University; is responsible for the development of current and long-range strategic goals, policies and operating plans to achieve the mission of the USU and for submitting these to the BOD for its approval; provides administrative, human resources, assessment and evaluation, and financial management to ensure effective and efficient student union operations and services which are responsive to the needs of the campus community; and oversees and manages USU facilities, services, operations and programs which currently include the USU BOD, the USU, the Student Recreation Center (SRC), The Pride Center, the Veterans Resource Center (VRC), the DREAM Center, and the Oasis Wellness Center.
