Position Description

    • Position Summary
    • Full-time position available on or after July 14, 2026 for Disability Resource Services.

       

    • Job Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Provide individualized, non-clinical case management to students, including meeting with students to identify barriers to full participation in curricular and co-curricular environments and determining appropriate accommodations. 
      • Coordinate and facilitate the provision of reasonable accommodations in consultation with students, faculty, and staff, applying relevant policies and guidelines. 
      • Deliver comprehensive academic and student support advising, including interpretation of university policies, goal setting, and referrals to campus and community resources. 
      • Provide consultation, information, and resources to students, faculty, staff, and administrators regarding disability access, accommodations, and student support strategies. 
      • Utilize advanced interpersonal, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques to address complex or sensitive situations involving students and campus stakeholders. 
      • Exercise professional judgment in resolving student concerns, balancing individual needs with institutional policies and practices. 
      • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student interactions, accommodations, and recommended courses of action using appropriate systems.
      • Coordinate and implement student-centered initiatives such as workshops, outreach events, and milestone programs that foster engagement and belonging. 
      • Develop and deliver educational sessions focused on student success, academic skills, and university navigation. 
      • Provide lead supervision and mentorship to student assistants, ensuring role clarity and accountability. 
      • Maintain and enhance tracking systems for participation, academic progress, and resource utilization. 
      • Analyze program data and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and practices within the assigned program area. 
      • Develop operational approaches to address emerging student needs where precedent may be limited. 
      • Represent the program in campus-wide planning discussions related to student support and engagement.
      • Design and implement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of student services and initiatives. 
      • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to identify trends, barriers, and service gaps. 
      • Maintain accurate documentation of student engagement and service delivery. 
      • Prepare data summaries and narrative reports for institutional reporting, audits, grants, and planning purposes. 
      • Participate in case reviews and team discussions to evaluate complex student situations and improve service delivery. 
      • Apply specialized knowledge of challenges faced by historically marginalized and system-impacted students to inform program development and assessment
      • May be required to obtain additional training and/or certification as part of professional development, based on department and/or campus needs, to stay current with industry standards. 
      • At the direction of the appropriate administrator, may provide support to other areas as needed. 
      • The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, a logical assignment to this classification.
    • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.

      Experience: Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. (A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.)

    • Preferred Qualifications

      • Master's degree in counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field
      • Prior experience in a CSU or higher education setting.
      • Experience applying federal and state disability laws (e.g., ADA, Section 504) to determine and implement academic accommodations.
      • Experience developing and delivering presentations, workshops, or trainings on accessibility, inclusive practices, or student success.
      • Experience consulting with faculty and staff to support accessibility and remove barriers to student participation.
      • Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with disabilities and intersecting identities.
      • Experience using student information systems, case management systems, or databases to document services and track student engagement.
    • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

      • General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management.
      • General knowledge of research and interview techniques
      • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations.
      • Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
      • Ability to obtain factual and interpretive information through interviews.
      • Ability to reason logically; ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentation based on these data.
      • Ability to recognize multicultural, multi-sexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly.
      • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas.
      • Thorough knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior.
      • General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the Student Services field as well as general knowledge of the policies, procedures, activities and practices of the program area to which assigned.
      • General knowledge of individual counseling techniques.
      • General knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, of the overall operation, functions, programs, organizational procedures, and activities of the campus.
      • Working knowledge of student services programs outside the program to which immediately assigned.
      • Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
      • Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters.
      • Ability to determine appropriate courses of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals in personal interactions of an argumentative or sensitive nature.
      • Ability to interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of problems brought forward by individuals or student organizations, analyze and define the problem, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action.
      • Ability to carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions.
      • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals to include faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, and other private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts.
      • A background check (which may include: checks of employment records, education records, criminal records, civil records, motor vehicle records, professional licenses, and sex offender registries, as position requires) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be employed with the CSU.

    • Salary Range
    • Anticipated starting salary will be $5,540.00 - $7,893.00 per month plus excellent paid benefits.  Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist.  (Full range: $5,540.00  - $7,893.00 per month.)
